The people of 1911

The latest census available to view is the 1911 census and this lists all thepeople who lived in the village at this time. The exact date of the census was Sunday 2nd April 1911 and the census lists details such as:

• name

 • relationship to head of family

• age at last

sex

marriage details (including number of children)

• occupation (for people age 10 and over)

• birthplace

• nationality

• infirmity (deaf, blind, lunatic, etc.)

• postal address

• military rank and unit.

The census details are usually recorded in the handwriting of the head of the household and so it is possible to see the handwriting of individuals living at the time.

The Heritage Group has researched the families who lived in the village according to the census and the results can be viewed here (pdf file opens in new window). A hard copy of the folder is also available in the Church.
